Synopsis for "Bones of the Defenseless"

During the third day of the invasion of Gotham City, a dead Rory Regan was being carried through a pile of bones by a fellow soldier.

Rory woke up in his bed and realized that it was all a dream and the same one that he had over and over. He got up, washed his face, and picked up a letter that was written to him by his father, Gerry Regan. Next, he went outside and looked at the trash outside. In a flashback a man named Vorst, met up with his subordinate One-Shot, who asked him how long would they have to live near Rags 'n Tatters, which he described the surrounding area as a "dump." Gerry encountered his old friend Betty Boyg, who warned him to leave the city as she believed that it was too dangerous for him. However, Gerry dismissed this, asking "what harm could come to an old ragman?" Rory was running the shop, buying items pawned in. Later, he came in and found his father injured after being beaten up. Later on, Gerry was taken to the hospital. Rory decided to get some sleep over his father being in the hospital. During his sleep, he had the same dream again, claiming that there was a voice telling him to defend his neighborhood. Suddenly, Rory was woken up when a man named Vorst came and pointed a gun at him. Moments later, One-Shot, who was with Vorst, knocked Rory unconscious and pulled out a knife. Rory was in the same dream again, this time in the Warsaw Ghetto. Once again, a voice kept calling him. Suddenly, he felt a stab wound and woke up next to Betty and a doctor in a hospital. The doctor claimed that Betty had found him lying in a pile of rags. Moments later, he learned from Betty that his father was dead and that the criminals had gained control of Rags 'n Tatters. Later, he visited his father's grave at the cemetery, then visited Rollie, an old friend of his father.

Meanwhile, at Rags 'n Tatters, Aunt Mabel, one of the new owners, was turning down a man who was asking for Tylenol, but did not pay for previous transactions. During the "third invasion of Gotham City", Rory began to suspect that his dreams meant something. When the lights went out at Rags 'n Tatters, Rory searched the junk around the building and found a suitcase full of rags nearby, realizing that his dreams had meant something. Then, Rory put on the rags and became the Ragman.
