Quote1.png My name is Raijin. Master of Lightning. But I am merely a loyal soldier in this conflict, Flash. I answer to the rightful owner of the power you have have abused and hoarded for too long. My lord and master is the true god of the Speed Force. Bow to him, Flash! Quote2.png

Raijin, the self proclaimed "God of Lightning" is a mysterious armored individual who was seemingly behind the Speed Force storm that rained down upon Central City.

The man who would become Raijin was a scientist at S.T.A.R. Labs who was obsessed with the Speed Force. Grodd corrupted him, however, and either provided him with or created him to create the lightning wand. The wand purportedly allows its user to control and study the Speed Force.[1]

Raijin appeared before Meena Dhawan to inform her that the first storm was only a test and with her help they will be able to control the Speed Force.[2]

He later recruits Multiplex and Gorilla Grodd in his campaign against the Flash just as he reveals himself to Barry as the leader of the Black Hole.

Powers

  • Electrokinesis: Raijin can generate large amounts of electrical energy that he may draw from the Speed Force. He can also seemingly travel through bolts of lightning.[2]
    • Incineration: Raijin's lightning is powerful enough to instantly incinerate nearby individuals.[2]

  • This character is an adaptation of Raijin, a character in traditional stories. These include, but may not be limited to religious texts, myth, and/or folk lore. More information on the original can be found at Wikipedia.org.
  • In Japanese mythology, Raijin is the name of the God of Lighting. This character, however, was a former S.T.A.R. Labs employee who presumably adopted the name from the Japanese legend.[1]
