History

Rainbow Estates was a planned housing estate that was to be built atop an ancient Native American ritual site, but after the first house was built the recession hit and the project was abandoned leaving 'Rainbow Estates' to be only a singular house. The house would be used as a clubhouse for a fetish group whose members often died in autoerotic accidents over the years, leaving the building severely haunted by kinky, but relatively friendly, ghosts. Some years later a group of Bandage covered spirits that had escaped from the Pentagon arrived in Rainbow Estates and took refuge in the house.

The magical history and supernatural residents of the site meant the house at Rainbow Estates had many magical properties including being bigger on the inside than it appeared on the outside. These strange properties would be detected by the super-scientist Niles Caulder who decided Rainbow Estates would be the ideal base of operations for his newly reformed Doom Patrol.[1] Once there, Caulder made numerous modifications to the Estates by building himself a lab and teleporter powered by the site's energies, as well as setting many of the Bandage People and ghosts to work on telephone sex lines and fortune telling services to help generate money for the Doom Patrol.[2]
