- A wretched soul, bruis'd with adversity, we bid be quit when we hear it cry. But were we burden'd with like weight of pain, as much, or more we should ourselves complain? Do you know what it is to see with dull eyes. To speak with contrived voice? To touch with dead hands. Abject hopelessness with subtle hints of despondent isolation? Scrumptious. Now you know.

History
Serial Killer
In the late 1800s, the being known as Red Jack traveled to Earth in search of feeding on people's pain, murdering multiple people, who would become his collection of butterflies in his dimensional castle, operating in London, where he obtained several names such as Jack the Ripper or Monster of Florence. One night, Red Jack killed a woman in cold blood, encountering a young boy named Niles Caulder, taking interest in him because he loved the pain he caused the woman, so Red Jack let him live and escaped from the place to continue with their massacre.[1]
Reunion with Niles Caulder
Almost two centuries after their meeting, Red Jack assumed solitude after so many homicides, looking for an apprentice to continue his legacy, so he spied on Niles Caulder for several years, watching him cause accidents to unknown people to seek immortality, fascinating Red Jack, who sent butterflies to trap Larry Trainor, a radioactive test subject of Niles, whom he held hostage to politely invite Niles to his lair. Red Jack orchestrated a dinner to meet with Niles, marveling at seeing him now an adult, murdering his butlers while speaking to him, explaining his recent loneliness, suggesting he become his apprentice, stating that he saw his love of pain from his first meeting in London, offering to obtain immortality if he achieved it, however, Niles refused his offer.
Angered by Niles' rejection of his offer, Red Jack turned off the candle lights and decided to make Niles his decoration. In his castle prison, Larry began to be tortured by Red Jack who made him see people dead from his radiation while Rita Farr, a former actress who became Niles' test subject with elastic powers, tried to save him and At the same time, Red Jack tortured Niles, making him look like his robotic test subject, Cliff Steele, which made Niles suffer knowing that he will not be able to feel again.
During his torture, Niles began to undergo the process of metamorphosis into a butterfly in front of Red Jack, who showed his disappointment in him because he had high expectations for them to work together, but without seeing it coming, Niles approached him to drink his knife and stab Red Jack in the neck. In his final moments, Red Jack continued to be stabbed by Niles, mentioning his charm for suffering his pain, finally dying among a swarm of butterflies while Rita and Larry freed the butterflies.[1][2]
