Red Robin #1 is an issue of the series Red Robin (Volume 1) with a cover date of August, 2009. It was published on June 10, 2009.
Synopsis for "The Grail, Part One of Four"
Having adopted the guise of Red Robin, Tim Drake travels the globe performing random acts of heroism. He tries to maintain his focus, refusing to accept the fact that the Batman is dead. His first stop is in Madrid, Spain where he rescues a hostage named Yessenia Peñalba and encounters a metahuman with pyrokinetic abilities.
He reflects upon his last visit to Gotham City where he had a dramatic confrontation with Dick Grayson and Damian Wayne; a confrontation that resulted in Tim knocking Damian to the floor. Closer to present time, we see the assassination of a high-profile Czech businessman. The assassin is then torn apart and thrown out a window by what appears to be a creature with four glowing eyes whose figure is shrouded in darkness. Drake only learns the details at some point after the fact.
In another flashback, it is revealed that Drake has been traveling the world trying to locate Bruce, who he believes is still alive somewhere. He also reflects upon the reason he has chosen this new identity/costume; he feels certain that in order to achieve his goals, he must cross certain moral boundaries, and he doesn't want his actions coming back to haunt Bruce or Dick.
Leaving Spain, Red Robin then journeys to Paris, France, where he foils an armed robbery. He doesn't realize that his actions are being secretly monitored by Ra's al Ghul.
