Red Son is a hero of Kryptonian mythology and the legendary ancestor of the House of Ra.
History
According to the House of Ra's "house fable", Red Son and his twin sister Starchild were the children of the sun god Rao who fell from the sky to Krypton in the planet's prehistory. They were each discovered by one of two warring tribes; the Aivor and the Eldani. Red Son grew up to be a champion of the Aivor and lead them in battle against his sister and the Eldani.
Both tribes' homelands were destroyed in a battle between two giants below the planet's surface. The siblings, whose bond was so strong that they trusted each other despite a lifetime of being taught to hate one another, put aside their differences and lead both their peoples through the Caverns of Mungu to a new home.
On their journey they were attacked by a monster which rained down fire from the sky. Starchild was killed but her soul became a shield to protect her brother even in death. Rao's flame ignited in Red Son's chest and the two tribes flocked to him as a living beacon. He lead them to victory over the monster and into their new home.
In the present day Osul-Ra adopted the codename Red Son in tribute to the legendary hero.
