Remiel is an Archangel of Heaven, that was once sent down to hell by God, and trapped there, forced to be it's ruler alongside his brother Duma, after Lucifer Morningstar abdicated the throne, and gave up the keys to Dream of the Endless.
History
Lucifer is not very fond of Remiel, and calls him names like "little pig". Lucifer has also before stated that he has very little respect among the demons in his dimension.
