Renkil Kem is Matter Eater Lad's younger brother. He has the same powers as his brother and was jealous of his brother's success as a Legionnaire.

History

He framed his brother for being a traitor to the Legion using a telepathic transmitter he planted in Tenzil but when he knocked Tenzil unconscious, Renkil feared he had killed him and contacted the Legion for help. Tenzil forgave Renkil and offered to make Renkil his replacement while he underwent surgery to have the transmitter removed.
