Synopsis for "One Side or the Other"

At the Northwestern Residential Senior Care home in Portland, the Body Doubles wonder what's taking Mitch Shelley so long to resurrect. They are surprised by the appearance of Darryl Roth, a friend of Mitch's father. Darryl plays the doddering old fool, and Carmen allows him to go.

Instead of resurrecting, Mitch has appeared in a strange otherworldly plane. A voice surprises him, explaining that he is in a realm somewhere between Heaven and Hell. The voice warns him to leave, because creatures called Nightmorphs are on their way to claim him. The voice explains that it is a demon, and that Suriel, the woman who has been chasing him down, is an angel. The demon explains that Mitch's failure to actually die is causing book-keeping problems for the afterlife. One way or another, someone has to claim him before things get tricky.

Mitch refuses to go with the demon, and wakes back on earth, his body reforming in what appears to the Body Doubles to be a painful process. Bonnie shoots him down before he has a chance to stand, but he rises up soon after with the power to turn his body to stone. Despite his power, the girls are still able to fight back, given their regenerative abilities.

They manage to kill him again, and put some handcuffs on him. When he wakes up, he easily rips through their cuffs, and unleashes a sonic scream, sending Bonnie through a wall. Carmen manages to tranquilize him, and they take extra care to restrain him.

However, the girls are stopped by a man in a high-tech suit, claiming to be The Transhuman. It is Darryl, coming out of retirement.
