Richard "Dick" Grayson, also known as Robin, was the Batman's vigilante partner, before being killed by the Joker.

Robin used to be Batman's vigilante partner and used to fight with him against Gotham City's criminals, until the Joker murdered him with the help of Harley Quinn.[1] He also defaced his body armor with graffiti and Batman later installed the suit as a memorial to his fallen comrade in the Batcave.[2]

  • This version of the character is exclusive to the continuity of the DC Extended Universe and is an adaptation of Robin. The original character was created by Jerry Robinson, Bob Kane, and Bill Finger and first appeared in Detective Comics #38.
  • Robin's identity was never revealed in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and statements regarding his identity in the DCEU have been inconsistent.
    • It was originally assumed that the DCEU's Robin was Jason Todd, the Robin who died in the mainstream DC Universe. Warner Bros.' DC Universe: The Exhibit stated that the suit in Batman v Superman belonged to Jason,[4] and Jason's name appears on props in Suicide Squad. David Ayer, director of Suicide Squad, also stated it was Jason in a tweet in September 2018.[5]
    • However, Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder stated on social media in November 2018 that he intended the character to be Dick Grayson. The plan was for him to stay dead until Carrie Kelley became the new Robin in a later film.[6][7] Ayer later confirmed in 2020 on Twitter that it was Dick who was killed by Joker in his movie,[8] contradicting his earlier statement.
    • For the sake of certitude, DC Database stands by Snyder (and later Ayer's) "official" stance that the dead Robin is Dick.
