Robbie the Robin, also known as Captain Redbreast, was Ace the Bat-Hound's sidekick and an ally of Krypto the Superdog.
History
Robbie was sleeping in his nest when Bud and Lou, Joker's hyenas, captured him to use as a hostage. On second thought, they decided to throw him into the ventilation openings of a building, where Robbie was unable to fly to escape. Acting quickly, Bat-Hound managed to save him with his batrope, making Robbie grateful.
The next night, Bat-Hound was able to meet Bud and Lou again at a construction site. Unfortunately for Bat-Hound, Robbie managed to track him down and tried to help him fight crime. Bat-Hound tried to explain to Robbie that he didn't do the "team thing" and he did "superhero alone", but Robbie argues that teaming with him would be fun, while accidentally telling the hyenas that they could escape through the construction's trash chute. From that moment on, Robbie became Bat-Hound's constant companion, always getting in his way when he tried to capture the hyenas. Then Bat-Hound told Robbie to ask every pigeon in Gotham if they had seen the Joker's hyenas, immediately fleeing Gotham and hiding out on Krypto's Kryptonian rocket once Robbie was gone.
Despite Bat-Hound's efforts, Robbie still managed to locate him. Robbie told him that one of the pigeons knew where the hyenas where: at the Springo Bed and Pillow Factory. At the factory, Bat-Hound and Krypto broke in, leaving Robbie outside. It was after Bud and Lou incapacitated Krypto with kryptonite dust that Robbie managed to break in as well, accidentally stepping on a button that activated the treadmill where Bat-Hound was. Attempting to deactivate the treadmill, Robbie only managed to activate more machinary, and attempting to save Bat-Hound, Robbie ended up trapped with him in a pillowcase.
Robbie and Bat-Hound were placed by Bud and Lou on a giant spring on the factory roof and launched "miles into the sky". Bat-Hound was unable to escape on his own, accepting help from Robbie, who tore the pillowcase with his beak. To ease his fall, Bat-Hound used what was left of the pillowcase as a parachute, thanking Robbie for saving his life. While Bat-Hound captured Bud and Lou with his bat-net, Robbie removed the kryptonite dust from Krypto, making him better.
After Bud and Lou were taken away, Robbie told Bat-Hound that they were even now that Robbie had saved his life. Robbie was relieved, as he didn't think he was ready to be a crime-fighting partner, but to be his own hero, assuming the title of "Captain Redbreast, the feathered fighter of filthy foes and offender of friendly freedom-loving friends". He then activated a jet pack in his suit and flew south for the winter.[1]
