Robert Barnett (Earth-One)

Battling Bob Barnett was a middleweight boxing champion in his younger days, and in his later years retired to a house just off the campus of Ivy Town University.

History

While out on a walk, Barnett found a White Dwarf Star Fragment; from the same meteorite fall that provided The Atom with his Fragment and his amazing shrinking power. Battling Bob used his piece as a very effective paperweight.^[1]

When the sentience from the core of the White Dwarf sent The Atom's costume -- with Ray Palmer an unwilling puppet -- to retrieve Barnett's Fragment, Ray pleaded with Battling Bob to stop him. As a Middleweight Champion, Bob was very confident in his abilities, but still lost this bout to the pint-sized powerhouse The Atom, who stood at six inches but still weighed-in at 180 pounds.^[1]

Unconscious, Battling Bob could not stop the Atom's costume from stealing the fragment.

This version of Robert Barnett, including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the original Multiverse in the 1985–86 Crisis on Infinite Earths event and later restored following the rebirth of the infinite Multiverse during the Dark Crisis of 2022-2023. Even though other versions of the character may have appeared, this information does not apply to those versions.
