Robin Hood is a legendary archer outlaw in the English folklore, who "stole from the rich and gave to the poor". He is indeed sometimes attributed as a possible native of the village of Locksley, Nottinghamshire. There are numerous characters in the DC Universe inspired by the folklore hero, like Green Arrow and the Hood.
Robin Hood was adapted by Walter Scott and Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson, first appearing in New Fun Comics #5 (1935).
