Roger Hayden is a Gotham City supervillain who was possessed by the Medusa Mask and came to be known as Psycho Pirate.

Pre-Crisis

Roger Hayden stole the Medusa Mask from the Khandaqi Embassy and was possessed by the dark entity, which was imprisoned inside of the mystical item, and became a supervillain known as the Psycho Pirate.[1] At some point in time, Hayden was arrested by GCPD and sent to Arkham.

In December 2018, as John Deegan caused a riot in Arkham in order to escape from Oliver Queen/The Flash, Barry Allen/Green Arrow and Supergirl, the supervillain left his prison cell and joined the fight but the heroes eventually managed to capture again all the inmates, including Hayden[2] who, in the meantime, had got back his Medusa Mask: as he tapped into its divine power, Hayden managed to foresee the incoming changes in the time, the beginning of the Crisis and both the destruction and rebirth of the Multiverse. After the defeat of Deegan and his following imprisonment, Hayden befriended him and told him about the future events.[3]

One year later, as he had previously saw through the Medusa Mask, Hayden was erased from existence along with all the Earth-1 residents after the universe was annihilated by the Anti-Monitor's antimatter wave.[4]

Post-Crisis

After the Spectre and the Paragons rebooted the Multiverse, Hayden was restored to the existence on the newly born Earth-Prime.[5] In the new timeline, Hayden still was the supervillain Psycho Pirate and fought against the heroes during the riot in Arkham Asylum.[1]

By June 2021, Caitlin Snow stated that Hayden was still imprisoned in Arkham; however, he was not possessed anymore by the Medusa Mask's spirit as he had previously lost the artifact, which was acquired by the Central City Museum, freeing himself from its curse.[1]

  • In a possible future where the Crisis happened in 2024, a future incarnation of Hayden was a major player in the event and, some time later, he stated to remember the events of that night.[6]
