Quote1 It's concentrated brain-wave energy, you Kryptonian clown... And with it, I've been molding the world to my way of thinking! Did you hear that, Superman? The world-- And you can't stop me! Quote2
Roger Rivers src

Roger Rivers was the last man to be scrutinized by Roy Raymond, TV Detective, in the original run of his hit TV-show Impossible-- But True!

Rivers came on the last aired episode of Impossible-- But True! to demonstrate an alleged matter-teleporter which he had invented. Although Raymond could not invalidate Rivers's claims about the functionality of the device at the time, he vowed to expose the teleporter as nothing more than smoke-and-mirrors on the next week's show. By then, however, Roy Raymond inexplicably vanished off the face of the Earth. In actuality, Rivers kidnapped Raymond and artificially developed Raymond's mental abilities into genuine psychic powers, while also brainwashing Raymond to do his bidding without question. Over the next few decades since the cancellation of Impossible-- But True!, Rivers used Raymond's enhanced mental powers to set off a spate of terrorist attacks and bloody revolutions, all in order to mold the world to conform to his way of thinking. One week, Superman decided to investigate the whereabouts of Roy Raymond and discover what ultimately happened to him. After several days playing the role of super-sleuth and being attacked by animated plants and enlarged bacteria, Superman pretended to succumb in order so that he could be taken to his unknown enemy's secret lair and get to the bottom of the bizarre events facing him. Superman was transported telekinetically by Raymond himself to Rivers's cavern laboratory, where Superman revealed he was only playing possum and matched his super-willpower against Raymond's telepathic onslaught. Superman managed to snap Raymond back to his senses and deflect his psychic attack into Rivers himself, knocking him unconscious. Rivers was then presumably arrested and brought to justice, while Raymond's psychic powers apparently vanished when his brainwashing wore off.[1]
