Trivia
- The cover of Astonishing Suspense #15 featuring Pontius Pirate is a replication of Amazing Fantasy #15, which featured the first appearance of Spider-Man, whom Steve Ditko co-created with Stan Lee.
- Otto Binder's séance tape is based on what he actually did in real life. Binder was deeply affected by the death of his daughter Mary and came to believe in communicating with spirits by listening to the static of recording tape. Binder, Frank Miller and a few associates did held a séance in 1973. The difference in Rorschach's version of the séance is Tom Fagan being replaced by Will Myerson.[1]
- Frank Miller's The Dark Fife Returns is a direct reference to Miller's Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.
- The "Squid" attack changing Frank Miller's outlook on his art and life is a parallel to the real Frank Miller's reaction to the September 11 attacks.
