Rose Canton was the former wife of the Golden Age Green Lantern Alan Scott and the mother of his children Jennifer-Lynn Hayden and Todd Rice, aka Jade and Obsidian. She had an alternate personality, the supervillain Thorn.
History
Thorn battled Green Lantern many times during the Golden Age. However, during a period when she received treatment for her mental illness and the "Thorn" personality was suppressed, Rose fell in love with Alan Scott. The two dated and eventually married, as Alan was in denial of his homosexuality at the time. Although he could not be sexually attracted to her, Alan did deeply love Rose platonically and the two had a positive relationship, including having sex on at least a few occasions.
Rose eventually relapsed and Thorn took over again. She left Alan whilst she was pregnant with twins, who she gave up for adoption. Alan didn't know she had been pregnant and Rose never told Alan about their children, so he didn't meet the twins until they were adults.

Notes
- Rose Canton/Thorn was created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino, first appearing in Flash Comics #89. However, in the Prime Earth continuity, Rose Canton/Thorn first appeared as part of the New 52 DC Universe in Alan Scott: The Green Lantern #6 by Tim Sheridan.
- In The New 52, a new version of Rose Canton/Thorn appeared in a one-shot titled National Comics: Rose and Thorn #1. The one-shot was published years prior to Golden Age-related characters, including Alan Scott or the members of Infinity, Inc., being reintroduced into the post-Flashpoint continuity. Additionally, the new iteration of the character was a high school student living in the present day. The original Prime Earth Rose Canton's status is unknown, but if she has not been erased from continuity she is clearly a separate character to this version, who is an update of the Golden Age character.
