Human Bomb. Enlist, obviously.

Roy Lincoln is the first hero to operate under the Human Bomb moniker. He was a member of the Freedom Fighters and his sidekick was Cherry Bomb.

During the Golden Age of superheroes, Roy Lincoln was a chemist who developed from an experiment the ability to project explosive force from his own body, a power he struggled to control with the aid of a "fibro-wax" containment suit. In Washington, D.C., he became the fugitive superhero the Human Bomb, attracting both controversy and police attention for the damage he left in his wake and the violent deaths suffered by his enemies.[1]

In 1943, he worked with his friend and peer Professor Brian James in his civilian identity to create a liquid that could open any lock without causing damage, which was then stolen by a pair of thieves who killed James in the process. Lincoln resisted the efforts of Professor James' teenaged daughter Gloria to involve herself in his search for the killers, despite her threatened use of his secret identity as blackmail, but was forced to acquiesce after she replicated the experiment that had given him his powers. Helping her to control her new abilities, the Human Bomb took James on as his partner Cherry Bomb, and together they succeeded in bringing her father's killers to justice—alive, despite considerable collateral damage. Unlike his own power, however, Cherry Bomb's grew increasingly unstable over time, a condition Lincoln attempted to cure before her sudden disappearance.[1]

After his death, Lincoln was interred in the superheroes' crypt of Valhalla Cemetery in Washington, D.C.. Following Perpetua's domination of the Earth, he was considered a prime candidate for Batman's army of the dead, resurrected via Black Lantern Ring,[2] with which he fought in the final battle against the forces of his counterpart the Batman Who Laughs.[3]

  • Containment Suit: Lincoln wears a head to toe containment suit made of "fibro wax", which prevents the explosive reaction. When he wants to use his powers, he simply removes his gloves.[1]
