| HistoryText = Russia is a transcontinental country extending over much of northern Eurasia. It is a semi-presidential republic comprising 83 federal subjects. Russia shares land borders with the following countries (anticlockwise from northwest to southeast): Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland (via Kaliningrad Oblast), Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia and North Korea. It also borders the Arctic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, the Caspian Sea, the Baltic Sea, and the Black Sea. Russia is also close to the United States (Alaska) and Japan.

For the most part, Russia has been portrayed as having the same history and social structure as the real world country. A few continuities are an exception to this. Setting like the Russia from Superman: Red Son, later identified as set on Earth-30, and Earth-8 from Countdown Presents: Lord Havok and the Extremists. In both cases a point in history was altered, resulting in a very different Russias. In Red Sun, Superman's rocket lands in the Ukraine, leading to him being raised by Stalin and ultimately ruling Russia nad the Soviet Union. With Earth-8, either the Bolshevik Revolution did not occur or the Czars were return to power with Lord Havok, son of Czar Nikolai III, controlling the country. | PointsOfInterest =
