Quote1 The Flash is never truly alone. But once I'm done with him, he will be. Quote2
Red Death src

The Red Death is an alternate version of Ryan Wilder from an Earth where Batman did not exist. She is also a speedster and a former member of the League. Arriving on Earth-Prime, Ryan became the leader of the new Rogues to defeat the Flash.

Origins

Red Death Arrowverse 003

Ryan Wilder.

In her timeline, Ryan used to be the hero of Gotham City known as Batwoman, the best friend of Iris West and a member of the superhero team known as "the League". However, the city took its toll on the Bat, forcing Ryan to seek more extreme ways to prevent the crimes she felt she wasn't fast enough to stop. So Ryan set her sights on her Earth's Flash, determining that she could use the Speed Force better than the speedster himself could, and built her own Artificial Speed Force with a special armor to access the speedster's power, becoming a rogue psychotic vigilante known as Red Death. The Flash oppossed Ryan's plan, and they ended up in a conflict which resulted in Iris getting killed. She tried to get into the Speed Force, but she was rejected and ended up in the Earth-Prime in a vibrational form, until she was freed by her Rogues team.[1][2]

  • The "lady in red" mentioned by Batwoman in the Armageddon Timeline is obviously Red Death's future counterpart.[6]
  • A few of Red Death's lines were derived from Batman's iconic quotes in various media:
    • "I am vengeance. I am the night" from the DCAU Batman: The Animated Series episode, "Nothing To Fear";
    • "Criminals. A superstitious and cowardly lot" which is inspired by Batman's quote, "Criminals are a superstitious cowardly lot" from Detective Comics #33;
    • "Everybody's got their limits. I ignore mine" which is inspired by Batman's quote, "All men have limits. They learn what they are and then learn not to exceed them. I ignore mine." from Detective Comics #663;
    • "You wanna get nuts? C'mon, let's get nuts!" from Tim Burton's 1989 Batman movie.
