Planet Saro was reached in the 1930s, by science adventurer Don Drake and his girlfriend Betty, via Drake's "Sphere Ship". They were stranded there, and had a series of harrowing adventures.[1]

Residents

  • Midget Men: Small dwarf-like humanoids who inhabit the city-states of Zetruria and Jarovia. They have a militaristic culture, wear armor, and wield corkscrew-like "screw-spears".[1][2]
  • Ant-People: Creatures that resemble enormous ants, but are actually intelligent and build cave cities. Though peaceful, they are enslaved by the evil "many-armed beasts".[3]
  • Many-Armed Beasts: Huge blob-like monsters with enormous eyes, gaping mouths, and many tentacles. They are the vicious rulers of the peaceful ant-people.[3]

Wildlife

  • Bandar: A creature that resembles a cross between a rhino and a lobster, about the size of a locomotive. They can bite through metal.[2]


Trivia

  • Saro is the first extraterrestrial planet to appear in a DC comic, appearing in the very first issue published by the company.
