Sax Rohmer (b. February 15, 1883 – d.June 1, 1959) was a crime novelist widely recognized for creating the famous pulp villain Fu Manchu.

Personal History

He wrote stories about the character, starting with The Mystery of Dr. Fu-Manchu in 1912, with more stories until 1917. He revived the character in 1931 and wrote more stories until his death in 1959. Though he did not supply any new material to comics, he has been given writing credits for all comic book appearances of the character.
