Professional History

Before acting, Sean worked as a milkman and also tried his hand at bodybuilding as well as football. His initial acting roles were in theatrical productions, TV shows or minor film roles until the 1958 film Another Time, Another Place. Before he landed a major role, he was also forced to work as a babysitter. The 1959 film Darby O'Gill and the Little People was his breakout film and he later landed a job in the James Bond film titled Dr. No, released in 1962. Connery went on to star in further Bond films, solidifying his film career. In 1992, he established a production company called Fountainbridge Films, which shut in 2002 due to business disputes.

Connery also produced and acted in the 2003 film The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, portraying the role of the adventurer Allan Quatermain. It was based on the comic-book series of the same name, written by Alan Moore and published under the imprint of America's Best Comics. Connery disagreed with the director Sean Norrington during the film's production and tried to improve it during editing of scenes. The frustration caused due to the filmmaking process played a part in his retirement from acting in films.
