Synopsis for "Book One: The Pilgrimage of Lucas Hart. Chapter Three: Choking on the Past"

Lucas Hart is trapped in a vision of his childhood: in 1959, he is tormented by The Little Man with the Knives at a birthday party. The monster chases him and commands him to remember. In 1987, Rhonda retrieves him from the hospital and helps him convalesce from his panic attack when the memories come flooding back of Lucas being sexually abused by his father. In an attempt to bring him peace, Rhonda leads him to a small shrine she has built to The Magician and Lucas feels a calm as he remembers his past lives.

He passes out for 18 hours and when he awakens, the two discuss his feelings and he determines that he needs to go back to his childhood home in Wisconsin and he wants her to accompany him. As the duo fly there, an astral projection of Charlie Limbo watches over them. When they reach their destination, Lucas' mother comes to the door in tears and explains that his father has just died.
