Synopsis for "Book Two: Falling Down to Heaven. Chapter One: The Age of Innocence."

Lucas Hart mourns Viola Clark at her San Francisco grave and is overcome by a beam of light that quickly flies away. He returns to Los Angeles and visits his daughter Aimee Hart. He and ex-wife Jennifer Hart plan a birthday party for her that goes well but Lucas has to leave and cries over a photo of his family at his apartment.

The next day, he meets with his agent Adam Silverman who tells him about a possible job that he is loathe to take. The new television series requires him to fly to New York City and Charlie Limbo convinces him to take Aimee. The night before they leave, Lucas is haunted by a vision of his father that is quickly dissolved by The Magician, who blesses the duo's trip.

They arrive at the home of Dorothy and Marilyn Tattmore, who have recently written a book claiming that they can communicate with angels. As they go to bed, Aimee is abducted by a group of grey aliens; her father tries to stop them but he is intercepted by an angel.
