Synopsis for Wonder Woman: "Adventure of the Kidnappers of Astral Spirits"

Congressman Brown is gunned down in his office by lumberman Earnest Write after refusing to be bribed. Though Diana Prince and the police find Write asleep at home, she identifies him as the killer. However, the only witness, Vina Kling, is too shocked to confirm the story. Vina's husband, lawyer Rob Kling, quickly positions himself as Write's legal defender and demands control of his funds. Rita Write, Earnest's daughter, pleads for a proper investigation but is rebuffed by her father and fiancé Byron Grant. Furious, she publicly threatens Byron if he interferes. Later that night, as Rita sleeps with her sister Marie keeping watch, Wonder Woman learns from eavesdropping that Byron went to question Vina. Wonder Woman arrives just in time to see Rita's astral self murder Byron—but Rita is found still asleep in bed, with Marie claiming she never left her side. Wonder Woman consults Professor Karma, who confirms it is possible for an astral self to commit acts in the real world through the aid of a medium. Before he can name the medium, Karma falls into a sudden sleep, and Wonder Woman uses his invention, the astroscope, to observe his astral form being silenced by hooded spirits. She then tests the device on Marie and watches her astral self be ensnared by cloaked figures who confuse her, manifest her fears into a monstrous form, and trap her with chains and blinders symbolizing obedience. To rescue Marie, Wonder Woman enters the astral plane and defeats the fear-monster guarding the path. She then rallies the astral forms of the sleeping Holliday Girls, teaches them to transform into birds, and follows the spirits to a prison castle. There, Wonder Woman allows herself to be captured and chained to a throne, but breaks free, proclaiming freedom over domination. With Etta and the girls' help, she tears down the spirit castle and finds Marie being trained to shoot Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman unmasks the mastermind and compels them to confess once awake. Marie, under the spell, nearly kills Wonder Woman in real life, but Steve Trevor intervenes in time. They rush to confront Vina Kling, who admits she was the medium enabling the astral crimes—part of a plot to frame Write and steal his fortune.
