Synopsis for "The Boots"
In the cold Russian Front, German Corporal Shultz is desperate for new warm footwear to replace his old boots. He spots a pair of well-made boots belonging to Private Cojer. Shultz have a talk with Cojer and learns that his boots are not military issue and have been in his family since the Great War. When Shultz tries to convince Cojer to trade for his boots, Cojer declines.
On the next day, Shultz formulate a plan to get Cojer's boots. He volunteer for patrol with Cojer. He lead the young Private to an icy ledge where he knocks him in the back of his head, but causing Cojer to fall off the ledge to his death along with the boots. Shultz scramble down the ledge and pry the boots off from Cojer, just as a blizzard sets in.
Shultz is soon founded by his fellow soldiers and taken back to camp. The soldiers found him still clutching Cojer's boots, in which they believe he had try to save Cojer. However, they also found his feet suffering from severe frostbite and the doctor had to amputate them.
