Synopsis for "Friendly Fire"
Sgt. Rock takes six new GIs out for recon, only to encounter friendly fire. Of the six, only the sergeant and one of the new recruits, dubbed "the Smileys" because of a comedy routine they performed for Easy Co., survives. In anguish, Rock engages in his own friendly fire, downing an Allied plane which had just peppered the second-to-last of the Smileys. Rock observes that "Nothing in war makes sense", especially not friendly fire.
