Synopsis for "Welcome to our Overlords! Part Two"

A spokesperson for Society has been criticizing the efforts of the Shazam Family to help impoverished families and homeless people, while praising the Commander for his affiliation to the conglomerate. At the Vasquez household, Billy isn't happy that Freddy would take work from a company they know nothing about but Freddy fires back, stating that at least he's doing something to keep his family from going bankrupt because Billy's mother is trying to back custody of her son. Freddy leaves the house and flies to the city, leaving Billy to go to the Rock of Eternity alone.

At the Rock, Billy asks Shazam what exactly is the object Freddy uses to transform into the Commander and Shazam explains that the Rock is more than just a place to hide evil things and it contains information on every magical object found on Earth. Freddy's artifact, the Amber Lightning, is older than most of the objects hidden in the Rock, so Shazam takes Billy to visit Hephaestus, god of the forge and creator of the Amber Lightning.

Mary and Hoppy have infilitrated Society's towers to find out what they're planning. While other visitors are distracted by a tour guide's explanations about Society's founder and association with the Commander, Hoppy detects a magical presence within the towers and teleports Mary into an underground facility. Before they can investigate any further, Mary and Hoppy are suddenly attacked by monsters.

Hephaestus explains to Billy that the Amber Lightning was his first creation, forged in a time when he was exiled from Olympus. The Amber Lightning was originally a strange meteor made from a mysterious magical ore, with something trapped deep within it, and Hephaestus thought he could forge it into something extraordinary to prove his worth to the gods. The mysterious entity trapped in the ore tried to manipulate Hephaestus by flooding his mind with thoughts and feelings of darkness, but Hephaestus powered through the voices and fashioned the ore into a bolt of lightning. The way Hephaestus sees it, the Amber Lighting is not exactly evil, but rather a test on whether its wielder can truly control its power or be controlled by it.

Unfortunately, Freddy seems to be unable to control the Lightning's power, as green energy surrounds him and the entity within the bolt tells Freddy to use his power however he wants.
