Synopsis for "Double Trouble"

Phil Chartoff is about to open his gas station for business when suddenly Captain Marvel appears. Marvel demands that Chartoff open his safe. Chartoff unwillingly complies, and Marvel and another man take off with the money in a getaway pickup truck. As they take off, we find out that the robber isn't Captain Marvel, but a crook in a mask and costume.

Meanwhile, Billy and Mentor are traveling along searching for a place to picnic. Mentor is trying to keep Billy from eating a whole bag of apples. The Elders call and warn Billy that he will meet someone that he will have to teach about respecting the law and that he will have difficulty practicing what he preaches.

At the same time, Kelly Martin, son of the town sheriff, is sneaking onto private property to ride a horse. As he is riding, a rattlesnake appears and scares the horse. The horse gallops out of control with Kelly on it, and Billy and Mentor spot him.

Billy becomes Captain Marvel and calms down the horse and then takes off. Mr. Frank, who owns the property and the horse, arrives and scolds Kelly and tells him he will talk to his father. Billy and Mentor also arrive and offer to take Kelly back to town. Kelly wonders why he has to follow the "no trespassing" laws when he saw two men at Mr. Frank's shed the other day. Mentor tells him that it's everyone's duty to respect another's property because it's the law.

When Billy and Mentor arrive at the sheriff's office to drop Kelly off, they learn that Captain Marvel has a warrant out for his arrest. Billy and Mentor can't believe it and conclude that someone is impersonating Marvel in order to pull off robberies. When Kelly complains about having to respect laws when Captain Marvel isn't, Billy concludes that the best thing to do for the sake of the law and Kelly is to become Marvel and turn himself in to Sheriff Martin.

Kelly asks Marvel why he turned himself in, even if he knows he's innocent. Marvel answers that even he has to respect and obey the law. Mentor remembers Kelly mentioning about two men on Mr. Frank's property, and the two decide to investigate in hopes of finding the crooks and clearing Marvel's name.

Meanwhile, back at Frank's shed, the crooks find out that Marvel has turned himself in. With Marvel out of the way, they decide to try and pull off a big robbery and steal a $10,000 payroll at Iverson's Mine.

After the crooks leave, Mentor and Kelly arrive at the site and discover a rubber mask and cape like Captain Marvel's. They go back to the station and wait for the sheriff. Sheriff Martin arrives and says he had to walk for two hours because two men in a green pickup he tried to help ended up disabling his car and stealing his keys. Kelly tells his father about finding the mask and cape, proving Marvel's innocence. Marvel bends back the bars of the jail cell (because the sheriff has no keys) and exits the cell. Sheriff Martin also says that the two men who stole his keys appeared on their way to Iverson's mine and concludes that they must have also pulled the job at Chartoff's station. Marvel restores the bars of the cell and takes off after the crooks.

Marvel gives chase and spots the green pickup. He lands on the back and the two crooks try to spin him off, but he holds fast. Marvel ties a thick rope to the back of the truck, takes off, and begins to pull the truck back to town. Mentor, Kelly, and Sheriff Martin arrive and the sheriff apprehends the crooks. Marvel then reminds Kelly that everything worked out because Marvel had respect for the law.

Back at the station, Kelly thanks Billy and Mentor for what he's learned and Billy offers Kelly an apple.
