Synopsis for "The Road Back"

The second part begins with Gary telling the police all he knows about Brok's drug dealing. Mark, however, refuses to talk. Billy and Mentor are looking on and, with the situation apparently in hand, decide to continue with their travels.

Along the way, the Elders call Billy and tell him that his work with Gary and Mark is not done, that there is still one last step to complete (meaning, at some point, he will have to deal with Brok). They also warn Billy of one who poses as a friend, but in truth is an enemy. And, they tell Billy that more precious than a friend you can trust is a friend who trusts you.

Meanwhile, Gary and Mark are riding with the police to go and give a statement to the D.A. when the officer stops to help a disabled motorist, unaware that Brok and he are working together to try and make off with his car. While the officer examines the car, the motorist signals to Brok, who is hiding in the bushes on the roadside. Brok then sneaks into the police car and drives off. Brok takes the boys down the road and lets them out, and then chastises Gary for telling the police. He gives Mark some money for keeping quiet and then leaves the boys to walk home.

As Billy and Mentor are changing the tires on the R.V., Gary (the Elders' "friend who trusts") calls Billy with a plan to nail Brok. The four meet, and Mark agrees to keep Brok out of his office while Gary sneaks in to find any drugs. Mark, however, sneaks off and calls Brok and informs him of Gary's plan.

Later, Gary and Billy are at Brok's office building. Gary finds drugs in Brok's desk as Billy is waiting outside. When Gary comes out with his discovery, Billy is reminded of the Elders' warning of one who is the enemy and concludes that Mark has just set them up.

Brok and Mark arrive and demand that Billy and Gary hand over the drugs. Billy, however, tosses the bag to Gary, and Gary speeds off in his car. After struggling with Billy, Brok and Mark get in their car and begin to pursue Gary. Mentor arrives to make sure Billy is OK and tells him that now the police and Captain Marvel have to get involved, since Gary is now in danger.

Billy becomes Captain Marvel and begins to pursue Brok and Mark. He flies several feet ahead of the cars, lands, and lets Gary pass by. Marvel then moves several large rocks for a roadblock. Brok spins out in front of the rocks and Marvel lodges his car between two trees and blocks him from behind with a boulder.

Marvel then chases Gary, whose car's brakes are failing. Marvel runs him down from behind, tells him everything is OK, and takes him back to where the police have apprehended Brok and Mark.

As Brok and Mark are being apprehended, Gary expresses guilt for reporting his friend, Mark. Mentor reminds him that he has just prevented Brok from ruining a lot more lives with drugs and that he may have just done Mark the biggest favor he could ever do. Gary vows to never mess with drugs again.
