The Silhouette was an enemy of Green Lantern.

History

In 1943, at the Adventurers' Club in Gotham City, one jaded big-game hunter, Ketchum, wagered $10,000 that he could, acting as a criminal, defeat the over-rated Green Lantern. Styling himself the Silhouette, He devised a series of high-profile crimes, with "light" as their unifying theme, advertised a public challenge (including clues) in the newspapers, and attempted to pull them off.

His first crime, an attempted robbery at the Metropolitan Opera, was interrupted by the Green Lantern and Doiby Dickles, however the Silhouette accomplished the rare feat of punching out Green Lantern, and escaped with a lot of loot. He successfully pulled off several more crimes, and soon greed and vanity began to take over his thinking.

Green Lantern disrupted another of these crimes, at a night baseball game, and the Silhouette again turned the tables on him, knocking the hero unconscious with a bat. Their third encounter took place atop a lighthouse, hard by a dangerous reef, where the Silhouette was attempting to cause a shipwreck in order to loot a cargo of coffee beans. This time, the Green Lantern prevailed, and the Silhouette plunged to his apparent death in the rocky ocean far below.

Notes

• This version of the Silhouette, including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the original Multiverse in the 1985–86 Crisis on Infinite Earths event and later restored following the rebirth of the infinite Multiverse during the Dark Crisis of 2022-2023. Even though other versions of the character may have appeared, this information does not apply to those versions.
