History

When Despot planned to control Earth's population, Stormwatch crashed Skywatch into Death Valley in a desperate attempt to kill Despot. However, Despot survived the attempt on his life until he truly died at the hands of his son Jackson King and Spartan.[1][2] Stormwatch temporarily reestablished their headquarters in New York City until Skywatch II was built. But the new station was soon invaded by alien xenomorphs that killed a large majority of the station's personnel. After the survivors were evacuated off the station by the WildC.A.T.s, Stormwatch operative Winter piloted Skywatch II into the sun to kill the aliens and preventing them from leaving the station.[3]

After Stormwatch was reformed by Jackson King, Skywatch III was constructed. The new station was barely entering into service when Earth was devastated in Armageddon.[4] Stormwatch survived the devastation as they were on board Skywatch III. Since the end of the world, Skywatch III was used as a refuge for much of the planet's survivors rescued by Stormwatch.[5] However, the station became stretched thin to support the huge number of refugees until Stormwatch reestablished communications with the Authority in UnLondon and transferred the refugees to the Carrier after reconfiguring the shiftship to receive Skywatch's excess energy from its solar reservoirs.[6][7]

Skywatch III later fell to sabotage committed by Kheran agents of the Knights of Khera in which the station nearly fell from orbit and came close to burning up in Earth's atmosphere.[8] Fortunately, however, the station was saved by Fuji, who was infused with nanites given by the Engineer and he used his new powers to repair the station and returning it to orbit.[9] Weeks after the attack on Skywatch III, the leader of the Knights of Khera, Sebastian, piloted his flagship the Red Blade to launch a direct assault on the station. Although Skywatch III lacked offensive weapons, Jackson King resorted to colliding the station into the Red Blade after raising its Storm Door and evacuating everyone off the station. Skywatch III survived the collision while significantly damaging the Red Blade.[10]
