Wanting to get to the bottom of this Mongol's death, Happy requests the Russian military aim their most powerful searchlight toward the Himalayas, allowing him to ride the beam into the mountains as the Ray. There he encounters the Khan, a Mongol warlord of supernatural powers. He traps the Ray in a lightless dungeon and rides off to join the Axis powers with his army of horse raiders.

However, the candlelight of the jailer making his rounds is enough to energize the Ray again so he can break out of his cell. The light of magnesium flares gives him enough juice to fly to Moscow and intercept the Khan for a fight to the finish.
