Socks was a feline guardian of Maxine Baker.
History
When Bernhard Baker and his daughter Maxine entered The Red together, they encountered the Parliament of Limbs; a group of creatures who are Totems of the Red. After discovering that it was not actually he who was Avatar of the Red, but Maxine, Buddy was assured that he would have help in protecting her. That help would come in the form of Alec Holland to the east, and a cat named Ignatius who willingly gave up his position in the Parliament to help Buddy look after Maxine.
When they got Ignatius back to their home, Maxine decided that he needed a better name. He admitted that his name was once "Socks" - and it was decided that it would be so again, regardless of his preference.

- Size Alteration: In his totem form Socks can become several times bigger than a common cat.

- Power Limitation: Outside the Parliament of Limbs Socks could not maintain his Totem form for long periods of time.
