Souciyan Island, in the West Indies, was severely damaged during the hurricane of 1942.
History
In 1942, the small resort island of Souciyan, in the West Indies, received a radio warning of an incoming hurricane, but instead of raising the signal flag to warn the populace, a corrupt radio operator named Moller collaborated with the island's richest resident, Mr. Girby, to rob the homes and stores of all the residents. A visiting American mystery writer, Jonathan Law, was arriving at the time, and he figured out what was going on. Law changed into his other identity, and as the Tarantula, he managed to get the signal flag raised, and to web up the two conspirators, out in the open, where they endured the full impact of the storm.
