Spectre (Volume 2) #31 is an issue of the series Spectre (Volume 2) with a cover date of November, 1989.
Synopsis for "Bye, Bye, Betty Bye-Bye"
George's Demon has taken control of Spectre and they have reached the real world to claim the souls of the Purvis family as well as Betty and Gina. The two women try to fight back, but the combined forces of the Demon and Spectre are too powerful. The ensuing fight causes some of the house to collapse. Gina manages to run, but Betty is trapped in the rubble.
The Demon and Spectre follow Gina to where the Purvis are waiting for their deaths and Betty starts climbing out of the rubble to keep fighting. Betty reaches the Purvis family and watches as the Demon and Spectre attempt to claim Gina's soul. Betty tries to fight the Demon, but she is killed. This causes Spectre to recover control of himsself and he turns against the Demon, to punish him for killing an innocent. This time, Spectre wins the fight and banishes the demon back to hell.
Robert Purvis is dead and Angel is no longer possessed. However, Jim Corrigan tries to argue with Spectre that they should try to fight for Betty's soul in hell, to bring her back to life. Spectre refuses, telling Corrigan that even he cannot defy hell. Although Gina believes that everything is over, Corrigan hopes that it isn't, thinking about Betty and her unfortunate demise.

- Although this is the last issue of the series, the story does not provide closure to any of the story arcs developed throughout the series. The lack of a proper ending might indicate a rather abrupt cancellation of the series.
