Spectre (Volume 3) #16 is an issue of the series Spectre (Volume 3) with a cover date of March, 1994.
Synopsis for "Call for Blood"
In Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, a young girl and her mother are killed by a carbomb. A week later, at the local pub, a man named Michael refuses to have a pint with his friend Eamus. Eamus apologizes, on the behalf of the IRA, for the deaths of Michael's wife and daughter. But Michael demands to know who was responsible for detonating the bomb. Eamus says Michael and the other Protestants don't belong in Ireland. Michael leaves the pub, vowing to find out who was behind the bombing.
Later that evening, Jim Corrigan walks through Enniskillen's cemetery. He meets a man, John James, who is sitting on a tombstone. James tells Corrigan that they're just like each other—dead. Corrigan then meets other ghosts in the cemetery. Soon, he sees Michael at the graves of his wife and daughter.
As Michael is kneeling before the graves, his brother-in-law Dennis arrives. Dennis admits that he was the one who set off the bomb. Michael is shocked. He asks Dennis how he could kill his own sister and niece. Dennis says he thinks his sister would have understood; he was doing it for the IRA's cause. Dennis attacks Michael, saying he is getting people too riled up. Just as Dennis is about to kill Michael, Jim Corrigan changes into the Spectre. However, the other ghosts in the cemetery tell him to mind his own business. The ghosts look inside the Spectre to see what possesses him. They learn of all the things that haunt Corrigan—chief among them, the death of Amy Beitermann.
In San Francisco, the Phantom Stranger—along with Doctor Fate and the Demon—convinces Zatanna to join the effort to stop the Spectre.
In Ireland, Dennis puts his gun to Michael's head. But then they both see the Spectre. The Spectre decides to make Dennis's victims his executioners. Michael is furious. He says it was his vengeance to take, not the Spectre's. Michael says he would kill the Spectre if he could. Michael calls upon all of his relatives—all Corrigans—to take up arms against the Spectre. The Spectre, shocked to learn that he is related to Michael, leaves the cemetery.
In Jerusalem, Ramban takes a call from Father Craemer. Craemer says that he gave bad advice to the Spectre. Ramban says that he too ran into the Spectre. They agree to meet.
