Synopsis for "Fatal Tissue"
Two college students are making out behind some bushes. A decrepit creature bursts in, grabs the guy, and causes his body to decompose. The creature then becomes a young-looking woman.
The next morning, Nate Kane and Jim Corrigan investigate the murder. A campus police officer informs them that a biology lab has been doing cloning experiments with fetal tissue. Kane and Corrigan question Professor Lance Jeffries, who oversaw the experiments. Corrigan, unfamiliar with modern police procedures, threatens to beat the information Professor Jeffries. Jeffries eventually tells them that Professor Desmond Baker performed illegal experiments, which meant that the university was required to destroy all of the data he gained. However, there was a small amount of fetal tissue that was not accounted for.
Kane and Corrigan pay a visit to Professor Baker, who says that his graduate assistant Peter Dahlgriev was responsible for destroying the samples. He also mentions that the research involves clones; they were splicing specific DNA metagenes into fetal tissue, hoping to create an identical copy.
As Kane and Corrigan are leaving the building, they hear a scream. They return to Professor Baker's lab and find that the creature has killed him (causing his body to decompose) and turned back into the young-looking woman. Corrigan turns into the Spectre and tries to attack the woman, but her touch hurts him tremendously. Kane shoots her, but she jumps out of the window and runs away. Corrigan tells Kane that the creature took part of his soul when she touched him; he cannot come into contact with her again, because she will take the rest of his soul.
The creature makes her way to an abandoned astronomy tower, where Peter Dahlgriev is waiting for her. She reveals that she stays alive by taking other people's souls. Without them, she ages too quickly. Dahlgriev then shows her his ultimate creation: a replica of himself. His own body is dying, so he will transfer himself into the new body.
The Spectre and Nate Kane arrive, and the creature tries to attack the Spectre. Dahlgriev's new body comes to life, but the Spectre kills it immediately. The creature dies too because she has aged. She sets free the souls she has taken and begs for their forgiveness. The Spectre then passes his judgment on Peter Dahlgriev: he must confront the souls of those who died because of him and then be taken by them before God.
