Spectre (Volume 3) #35 is an issue of the series Spectre (Volume 3) with a cover date of November, 1995.
Synopsis for "Evil Intent"
As the Spectre hovers above the city, he encounters Neron. Neron offers the Spectre his freedom; the Spectre-Force will have the freedom to act without a human host, as it did once before. In return, the Spectre must not interfere with Neron's plans. Corrigan rejects the offer, but the Spectre-Force hastily accepts it. Neron then separates the Spectre-Force from Corrigan. Corrigan wonders how the Spectre-Force could be tempted, since its essence is divine.
In her parlor, Madame Xanadu speaks to Neron via a candle he sent her. Neron offers her great power in exchange for her soul upon her death. Madame Xanadu gladly accepts; she is immortal, so Neron will never be able to collect her soul. Xanadu now has the power to call up the demons of Hell to do her bidding. She summons Bathopet, Maw, and Atopeh.
In Jerusalem, Ramban sees the Spectre floating above the city. The Spectre-Force is determined to avenge the death of Jesus, but Ramban says it was God's will. The two begin to fight.
On the Rock of Judgment, Jim Corrigan asks the archangel Michael what Heaven intends to do about the fact that the Spectre-Force has abandoned him. Michael explains that Heaven will do nothing. If the Spectre-Force destroys the Earth, it will be because it was time. He explains that this is not the first time the Spectre-Force has tried to follow its nature rather than the will of God. Corrigan asks why the Spectre-Force is allowed to walk the Earth without being bound to a human soul. When Michael replies that none of Heaven's edicts are being challenged, Corrigan suspects that something is wrong.
Above Jerusalem, Ramban and the Spectre-Force continue their fight.
In New York, the Ghost of Jim Corrigan appears in Nate Kane's office. He asks Kane to find Father Craemer and tell him to meet Jim by the bridge. Corrigan then goes to Madame Xanadu's parlor. He asks to be let in, but she tells him to go away. He persists, but again she tells him to leave. Then, a demon grabs him and pulls him in. Madame Xanadu has lost control of her servants.
