Synopsis for "Merchants of Vengeance"

Captain Fear's ship makes landfall in Manhattan. Jim Corrigan, who is aboard the ship, cannot remember who he is or what he is doing. He cannot even remember where he obtained the piece of the talisman that he is holding. When Captain Fear's ship approaches land, it floats above the streets of Manhattan. People do not see the ship as it passes; they only feel its wake of fear.

Richard Yount, who recently realized he is the reincarnated Baron Hemlocke, stands atop the roof of a skyscraper and awaits Captain Fear's arrival. He sees a blimp in the sky, and with a burst of energy from his hand he turns the blimp into his old ship. He drags his office assistant into the ship with him.

Corrigan continues to wonder who he is. He thinks the object he's holding might be a piece of something greater.

Meanwhile, Captain Fear's crew prepares for battle.

Elsewhere in the city, other corporate pirates are being reawakened. Captain Rupert Murder, for example, forces his employees aboard a ship. Captain Fear's ship emerges above a park, where he sees three vessels heading straight toward him. He has sailed into a trap. The ships surround Captain Fear, but just as they are about to fire on him he steers his vessel downward, causing the enemy ships to fire at each other. But the battle continues, and Hemlocke shoots at them through buildings. Then Rupert Murder's ship rams Captain Fear's, causing Jim Corrigan to fall out. He plummets to the ground, but he suddenly remembers who he is, because he is no longer under the ship's curse. Just in time, he turns into the Spectre.

The Spectre takes hold of Captain Murder's ship, and Captain Fear's ship, and destroys them. He then turns his attention to Hemlocke. Transforming himself into a shark, he bites Hemlocke's head off. Since the Spectre killed Captain Fear's vowed nemesis, the doomed pirate realizes that his chance of peace has been stolen from him; now he must sail back to the Bermuda Triangle and wait for Hemlocke's return. As he sails away, the Spectre reminds Fear of his deal with the devil, and his sins are not yet washed clean.
