It's a Sphinx! They ask riddles. That's what they do.
- —Pocussrc
Sphinxes are legendary magical creatures with the head of a human and the body of a lion with the wings of a bird. They often threaten anyone who doesn't correctly answer their riddles. Not to be confused with Manticores.
History
The most famous sphinxes are the Great Sphinx of Giza in Egypt and the one that guarded the entrance to the ancient Greek city of Thebes,[1] defeated by the hero Oedipus when he solved her riddle.[2]
