Spike Spalding was a boy who was kidnapped and taken to Patrania against his will.

In the mid-1930s, Spike Spalding was an ordinary boy living in an ordinary town, somewhere in the U.S.[1] But Spike was a near-perfect double for young King Philip of Patrania, and because of this, Spike was kidnapped by the nefarious Count Alex.[2]

Spike was taken to a yacht destined for Patriania, where the count planned to use his resemblance to the King in a scheme to take over the kingdom.[3] Fortunately for Spike, his best friend Pincus had witnessed the kidnapping, and stowed away on the yacht to help him.[4]

Pincus was caught and the count wanted him dead, but a friendly sailor saved his life.[5] The sailor helped the boys escape from the yacht on a boat, and they arrived to Patrania.[6] Without Spike, the count had to resort to a back-up plan, so he kidnapped Philip to cause turmoil in the kingdom.[7]

But Spike foiled Count Alex's scheme by impersonating Philip, preventing an uprising from taking place.[8] While the sailor and Pincus rescued Philip and brought the count to justice.[9] Spike and Pincus were then able to safely return home and meet with their families.[10]
