Synopsis for "Hero's Death"
Spy Smasher had regained consciousness and rolled out of the tram before it reached its fiery destination.
Admiral Corby calls Jack to have him deliver a codebook they captured off of the Mask's men to a top codebreaker in Washington. To keep their code from falling into American hands, Drake kidnaps Eve and the book. She recognizes him by voice, and surreptitiously taps the D-R-A-K-E keys on her typewriter which tips off Jack when he sees them. He goes to Drake's office to confront the reporter, but after a fight Drake escapes through a secret passage.
Drake deliberately leaves Eve locked up in a room with a phone she uses to call Jack for help, but Drake hijacks the call. He demands Spy Smasher hand himself over to secure Eve's freedom. Spy Smasher does go to the indicated address but climbs a fire escape, helps Eve escape without surrendering himself, and has a prolonged shootout with Drake and the Mask's other men. It proceeds to the roof where Spy Smasher is shot and falls to the sidewalk below.
