Human Target is an episode of season 1 of Spy Smasher. It premiered in 1942.
Synopsis for "Human Target"
Spy Smasher uses a grenade left behind by the agents to collapse the tunnel and cut off the flames.
A reporter named Drake comes into the secret hideout to cover the story, but unknown to Admiral Corby and the raiding party, he's actually a spy working for the Mask. Drake's camera broadcasts everything they learn back to the villain, like that the counterfeit dosh was printed on the German-controlled island of Martinidad. Corby has no authority to intervene on foreign soil, so Spy Smasher charters a plane to parachute into Martinidad before the counterfeiters have a chance to relocate.
The hero tries to meet with his contact Captain Pierre Durand. However, Durand's true loyalties have been discovered by the occupying German troops, leading to his arrest. Spy Smasher sneaks into the prison to rescue Durand just before he's about to be hanged. The rescue's successful, but is followed by a chase and gun battle with German forces. In the ensuing shootout, a German soldier with a tommy gun mows Spy Smasher down.
