Synopsis for "Stratosphere Invaders"

Durand sacrifices himself to save Spy Smasher, fitting the American with scuba gear and shoving him out a torpedo tube to float to the surface before being overcome by the rushing waters himself.

Reunited on land, the Armstrong brothers decode a missive Spy Smasher grabbed while he was aboard the submarine, and learn the spies' next target is to steal a new bomb sight. The plan's set to be carried out just half an hour after they manage to decode the secret message. Spy Smasher hurries to the location and arrives as the Mask's men are arriving in a VTOL "bat plane". After a fight he manages to stop the spies from getting away with the bomb sight, but is worried they'll try again and plans to set a trap for them.

Spy Smasher and Jack send a phony distress call they plan for the Mask's men to intercept, saying their plane carrying the bomb sight went down in a location that only a VTOL craft could reach. The bat plane does indeed show up, but the spies get the drop on the brothers, having anticipated a trap. A fight breaks out and Spy Smasher climbs aboard the bat plane as they try to escape. He and the pilot fight but don't notice the bat plane's out of control. It crashes into the ground and explodes.
