Synopsis for "The Invisible Witness"

Spy Smasher sticks his gun in the gears to pause the car before it flattens him. Since Admiral Corby knocked out his guard and escaped, the enemy agents flee before he brings the police back to the hideout. When Corby does just that, Spy Smasher rides the cable up out of the shaft when Corby and his police backup take it to a higher floor.

The Mask is enraged when Spy Smasher saving Admiral Corby is front page news. He shows the paper to one of the henchmen who carried out the plan, who sees the photo of the Corby family and recognizes Jack Armstrong as looking exactly like Spy Smasher from their previous encounter. Drake had overheard Jack and Eve Corby making plans to meet up at a camera shop. The Mask has his men pick Jack up there but Eve takes a picture of their car. She calls Alan Armstrong, thinking she's calling Jack, and he hurries to the camera shop to pick up Eve's camera hoping it'll have a clue to what happened to his brother. With the picture he's able to run the plates on the spies' car to a rental place and gets there just as one of them's bringing it back. After a fight, Spy Smasher gets the agent to confess their hideout is at the Union Pipe Works.

At the pipe works, the Mask's men are trying to force Jack to sign a confession that as Spy Smasher he carried out his espionage in German-controlled territories at Admiral Corby's behest, to make it look like the United States are trying to provoke war. The Mask tries to convince his captive by tying Jack to a conveyer belt and feeding him toward a cement cutter. The real Spy Smasher shows up and comes to his rescue, but in the ensuing fight Spy Smasher gets knocked onto the conveyer belt himself, and is about to be hacked to pieces by the machine.
