Ibac was an enemy of Captain Marvel, powered by four champions of evil: Ivan the Terrible, Cesare Borgia, Atilla the Hun and Caligula.

History

Ibac's alter ego is Stanley "Stinky" Printwhistle, a thug who tried to blow up a bridge but was thwarted by Captain Marvel, who kicked the bomb away. When Marvel caught Printwhistle by his clothes, they tore and the criminal fell off the bridge. He was saved by Lucifer, who offered Printwhistle the chance to become a champion of evil in exchange for his immortal soul. Printwhistle accepted, and was told to speak the magic word "IBAC". By doing so, the frail, grey-haired criminal was transformed into Ibac, a brutal muscleman with a buzz cut. Saying "IBAC" again transformed Ibac back into Printwhistle.

Because he hasn't been able to defeat Captain Marvel, Printwhistle has not been obliged to give his soul to the devil, and has reformed, but being weak-willed, he has often been forced by other criminals into becoming the evil Ibac again.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

• Power of IBAC: In order to change form, Stanley must be able to call upon the name of Ibac. Instead of magic lighting, Ibac transforms with green fire and brimstone.

  • Fierceness of Attila the Hun
  • Cruelty of Caligula

Abilities

• Mimicry(As Stinky Printwhistle only): Printwhistle is able to mimic Billy Batson's voice.

Weaknesses

• If injured enough, the four personalities (Ivan, Borgia, Attila, and Caligula) will separate from Ibac and he will return to his mortal form.
• Theoretically, Ibac will die if he defeats Captain Marvel, as Satan will take his soul (which never happened).

Notes

• This version of Ibac, including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the original Multiverse in the 1985–86 Crisis on Infinite Earths event and later restored following the rebirth of the infinite Multiverse during the Dark Crisis of 2022-2023. Even though other versions of the character may have appeared, this information does not apply to those versions.
• Shazam! #4 was Ibac's first full appearance in a comic published by DC Comics, following the appearance of his likeness in a photograph in Shazam! #2.
  

Trivia

• He doesn't make a proper appearance in the issue, but Ibac is one of the characters who appears on the cover of Whiz Comics #59, as one of several characters in a group photo, challenging the reader to name them all.
