Synopsis for Tomahawk: "The Ransom of Dan Hunter"

Tomahawk and Dan Hunter have just arrived at Cape Fear when a ship is wrecked in a storm. Tomahawk swims out to the ship and attaches a rope which the men use to get ashore. Because they have become so popular with the townsfolk some men plan to kidnap them and hold them for ransom. They attack at night, Tomahawk is knocked unconscious in a fight so they just take Dan Hunter. Tomahawk awakes just in time to escape a fire started in the house when a lamp was knocked over during the fighting but Tomahawk injures his ankles jumping from the building and is unable to try to rescue Dan. Then the townsfolk receive a ransom note demanding 1000 in a weeks time. The townsfolk try to raise money by selling items at low prices. By the end of the week Tomahawk can walk again. Dan Hunter is being held in the loft of an old mill. Dan manages to create a hole in the roof and send smoke signals which are seen by Tomahawk and along with the townsfolk Dan is rescued without having to pay the ransom the townsfolk collected. The money is used to build a lighthouse to improve the safety of the local fishermen.
