The Manhunters, having intercepting the Enterprise, start to attack the starship. Hal forbid Kirk from retaliating as they need the Manhunters as they are their only hope in finding Oa. But upon the Manhunters examining the ring bearers' power rings and recognizing them as Oan technology, the Manhunters deem them as thieves and continue their attack. Fortunately, on Spock's suggestion, the Enterprise disable the Manhunters with its tractor beam.
